Keep Giving Back.
We didn’t have a lot growing up. I’m sure that’s why I always stress to my children the importance of giving back; if you have more, and somebody has less, you give. That’s how I was raised, and that’s a value I want to instill in my children. So, when I’m collecting goods for the Zephyrhills food and toy drives, I make sure my kids are beside me taking it all in.
I also lend my support to the Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic. Right before the race, I get a team together of about 20 that unloads and delivers water to hand out to about 32,000 runners over the course of two days. Our truck is about 100 yards from the finish line, so we get the runners water immediately after they complete the race. We even get to the race site at 4 a.m. to unload all the cases. There’s so much that happens behind the scenes to keep everything flowing smoothly for everybody participating. I’m proud to say I play a role in that.
