Cap Safety Information

Over the course of the last several years, we have been reducing the plastic in our bottles and caps, making our packaging lighter. The cap on our 8 fl oz, 12 fl oz, 16 fl oz, 20 fl oz, 700 mL, .5 Liter, 1 Liter, and 1.5 Liter products has the least amount of plastic, with the cap for these size products smaller than other caps. In light of that, we have applied the following label statement:

WARNING: Cap is a small part and poses a CHOKING HAZARD, particularly for children.

Consumers should be advised that small parts, including our caps, should not be put in the mouth. Additionally, caps should always be replaced securely on bottles when not in use or discarded promptly.

Zephyrhills® Spring Water provides consumers of all ages with a variety of on-the-go beverage options to enjoy any time of day. The safety and quality of our bottled water products are our top priorities.

Water Source Identification

Zephyrhills® Spring Water identifies water sources on its bottle labels and/or online.

We have a robust quality monitoring program for both the product and the package that includes checks every hour for every production line in operation. That’s no small amount! What can we say? We really, really, really care about quality.

Quality Reports

Since 2005, we have made quality reports publicly available for all of our brands and are based on independent testing results from certified laboratories.

Easy Consumer Access to Information: Consumer questions and comments can be directed to our toll-free number, which is listed on the label of each bottle.

Storage and Handling

To maintain the high quality of our bottled water products, we recommend people store all of our products in a cool, clean, or shaded location, as they would any other packaged food product.

Food Packaging Safety & Regulation

We use packaging that fits into today’s hustle and bustle, has a minimal environmental impact, and is considered safe by regulatory and public health agencies. We evaluate new packaging materials and make changes to our products when we see a clear environmental, health and/or economic benefit.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is responsible for overseeing the safety of bottled water, which must be processed, packaged, shipped and stored in a safe and sanitary manner, and be truthfully and accurately labeled. Bottled water is one of the most regulated food products, with FDA protocols specific to bottled water processing and labeling.

Recycling and Reuse of Bottles

Our single-serve bottles are produced to be lightweight, and we recommend that they be recycled, not reused. This is because washing them with certain types of detergents can result in degradation of the polymer, and should be avoided. All our bottles are recyclable*!

Our 3- and 5-gallon home and office delivery containers can be returned to the factory for washing and refilling.

By recycling, you help keep materials out of landfills. (Pretty cool, huh?) So go ahead and toss your bottle in those big blue bins, knowing you’re doing Florida (and the planet) a favor.

Recycling Matters

Our bottles are designed to the standards of the Association of Plastic Recyclers to be recyclable, including labels that peel off easily to avoid contaminating the recycling stream. Approximately 30% of PET bottle plastic is recycled in the U.S. Together, we can increase this number. The more plastic you recycle, the more plastic we can use to create new recycled bottles. The result? Less plastic waste is generated.

Efforts to Recycle Plastic: In 2018, approximately 29.1% of PET bottles & jars were recycled across the United States. Recycling rates of PET vary across regions and recycling programs with bottle deposit return systems achieving the highest recycling rates up to 2.5 times the national average. Existing forms of mechanical recycling diminish the quality of plastic with each recycling attempt, although work is being done to try to find ways in which recycling might restore this quality.

Zephyrhills® Florida Spring Water has worked to be a good neighbor in Florida since 1964. Its 60-year commitment goes beyond just caring about water. Zephyrhills® supports communities across the state of Florida through job creation, water education, donations, disaster relief, partnerships, and employee volunteerism.

Through a partnership with WaterVentures and the Crystal Springs Foundation, Zephyrhills has helped educate more than two million students about being good stewards of the state’s water resources and protecting Florida’s springs.

Over the years, Zephyrhills developed and cared for its spring sites, and the land around them, to help provide safe, clean drinking water for communities across Florida and the Southeast United States through sustainable spring water withdrawal, while helping maintain a healthy and viable ecosystem.

Each year, when disaster strikes, Zephyrhills donates thousands of cases of bottled water to local communities to help provide safe drinking water in times of crisis when local supplies are interrupted.
